Today's stories
KEN PAXTON announced the arrest of four individuals, including a Gregg County Commissioner, for taking part in an alleged mail-in ballot fraud operation.
DAN PATRICK was absent from a press conference featuring Greg Abbott and Dennis Bonnen in Dallas yesterday, where they followed DeSantis' lead, outlining harsher penalties for rioters.
Here are a couple of other data-points that may or may not be related.
Harris County Clerk Chris Hollins is being allowed to run largely unchecked by the Governor and his Secretary of State. Hollis is preparing to violate election law, setting a negative precedent on drive-thru (curbside) polling, mail-in balloting, and 24-hour in-person voting.
And, last week, the NRCC pulled funding earmarked for Harris Co. and redeployed it to DFW.
HARRIS COUNTY is set to break the law, and Governor Abbott appears to be waving a white flag.
Visit the polling location webpage, and you'll see that there are 24-hour voting centers (click hours of operation) and drive-thru voting.
These are not activities allowed in Texas election law. Time frames to vote 7 AM - 7 PM are prescribed as are rules on curbside voting, that, like upheld law on mail-in balloting, are limited.
These usurpations of law must be opposed or similar to recent rulings and chatter in their wake; there will be attempts to cement and expand them.
