Today’s stories
LEGISLATIVE HEARINGS on the rolling blackouts Texans endured last week are kicking off today.
Expect lots of virtue signalling and poor policy solutions to follow. Maybe James isn’t familiar with the costly green energy madness in California that doesn’t stop blackouts under normal conditions?
Ahead of the hearings, Governor Abbott made a brief television appearance last night. It was widely panned by some non-relevant folks on Twitter [1 | 2 | 3]. Peanut gallery aside, Abbott is on shakier ground thanks to the events of the past year.
Popular in the polls before COVID19, Abbott has been criticized from both the right and the left for his handling of the pandemic. It’s possible - likely that the blackouts will add to that drag.

JOHN CORNYN will, like Mitch McConnel, vote to confirm Merrick Garland for Attorney General.
This week during his confirmation hearing, Garland previewed his witchhunt on Americans, gave a pass to ANTIFA for its actually-violent-ongoing insurrection, and refused to call illegally entering the country illegal.
Naturally, Cornyn praises Garland’s “commitment to upholding the rule of law” even though the nominee has signaled he has no interest in upholding the rule of law.
JOE BIDEN has suffered another setback in court after attempting to stop deportations via executive order.
