GUN “RESPONSIBILITY” might be the new buzzword. Do not, however, let it fool you. Political bad actors want to disarm you.

Uvalde’s just an excuse (i.e., classic Rahm Emmanuel).

Consider two recent developments.

A group of GOP Donors with extensive ties to Texas’ good ol’ boy system intends to advocate for gun control at the Federal level. The group notably includes “Robert Rowling” and “Ray Hunt.”

Rowling has been a significant donor to UT-Austin, to the degree that the business school’s newest building is named after him.

Ray Hunt is from Dallas. In 2007, while serving on a Foreign Intelligence board to which then-President George W. Bush appointed him, Hunt sought to undermine U.S. policy in Iraq to obtain favorable oil rights. Hunt’s older brother, Lamar, is the former owner of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ray is, likewise, the son of notorious deep state operative H.L. Hunt. We could say a lot, but suffice to note the family is deeply enmeshed in the “Dallas” power structure with all of the geographic/historical “baggage” that moniker implies.

These are important names that are used to get what they want.

We remain skeptical that a significant anti-gun initiative will pass, but the names in question have a history of extreme measures.

Matthew McConaughey, meanwhile, was pushing red flag laws at the White House. All under the guise of cheap, emotional blackmail.

Notably, the actor was born in Uvalde.

As discussed last year, McConaughey seems like a good dude who probably doesn’t need to be asked about every political issue down the pike. Yesterday’s appearance illustrates why.

DAN PATRICK, meanwhile, is engaging in his act of Rahm Emmanuel style crisis exploitation re: Uvalde.

Last Friday, in a late afternoon document dump, the Lt. Governor’s office proposed $50 million in expenditures to equip police with so-called “bulletproof shields.” The Lite Guv hypothesis (aside: Charitable description) is that such equipment would aid law enforcement’s response to similar scenarios. Consider us skeptical.

Dade Phelan feels the same way.

While we have no specific knowledge about this particular instance, history suggests this request comes from lobbyists and political consultants tied to the Lite Guv.

Phelan wants to grift on this situation too, but how that manifests is yet to be seen. Still, to create a situation where temporarily Phelan is seen as good fritters away from political capital.

BRYAN SLATON V. GROOMERS seems to be the order of the day.

Following the emergence of videos (see previous link; Major League NSFW warning) involving young children at a Dallas drag show, the first-term state representative proposed to ban the practice.

That was more than the lunatic fringe could handle.

Slaton even got a Democrat legislator in California to propose making drag shows mandatory. Bonus points for the legislator in question being named, quite literally, Senator Weiner.
