Lots of Education stories are making the rounds.
Today’s Stories
AUSTIN ISD finds itself in KEN PAXTON’s crosshairs following a massively controversial “Pride Week.”
Paxton claims the district violated state law by providing “human sexuality instruction” without parental consent. This comes as the district has promoted a bunch of frankly freaky stuff.
,
All of this, of course, is in a district where academic performance and student enrollment are in long-term decline. Gee, can’t understand why?
If Paxton is successful in his legal pursuit, the biggest question is what sanctions exist. This needs to hurt the district enough for them not to try again.
Maintain pressure.
Let’s head a little north on I-35.
ROUND ROCK ISD has reinstated scandal-plagued superintendent Hafedh Azaiez.
This is the latest twist in the nearly year-old saga, making national headlines. It won’t be the last.
While we suspect sanity will ultimately prevail, there’s a lesson in how hard the “bad faith five” have fought despite losing at every turn. They don’t give up.
FREDERICKSBURG and GRANBURY ISD’s are listening to parents. From different parts of Texas Hill Country, the two districts are both pulling pornographic materials out of the schools.
This is the sane and rational response.
It’s likely a lot of this stuff crept in without the knowledge of local officials. But it’s hard not to assume the worst when they fail to remedy the situation promptly.
Kudos to these two.
Finally, having dealt with all this weird, creepy, sex stuff, we turn to a case involving “just” astonishing levels of financial corruption.
LA JOYA ISD will hold special elections for two trustee spots recently convicted on corruption charges. It says a lot when corruption charges, running into the 8 figure range, are the #4 story of the day.
La Joya ISD gained notoriety in 2018 when they opened a water park at taxpayer expense.
