The FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION could be coming for the oil and gas industry.
Last week, the U.S. Senate confirmed a Biden appointee for a vacancy on the five-member commission. Democrats now have a 3-2 majority.
With that majority, D’s are positioned to scapegoat Texas’ native industry over high gas prices. If they meaningfully do so, they’ll be attacking an industry the Biden administration has leveraged to cover up foreign diplomatic ineptitude to supply Europe with LNG.
Whether these efforts amount to anything beyond grandstanding is TBD. Nevertheless, the possibility highlights the danger of Ted Cruz’s recent attempt to expand the regulatory authority of the FTC (in the name of “antitrust” activities of “Big Tech”).
In other Cruz news, see next item.
TED CRUZ has won a SCOTUS case against one of the sillier Federal Campaign finance law provisions.
Attorney Tony McDonald summarizes in a thread:
OPERATION LONE STAR remains an ongoing embarrassment.
The latest is a DMN piece profiling the illegal aliens Abbott has sent to D.C. Turns out most of them were headed to points in the Northeastern U.S., and were all too happy to take Texas taxpayers up on the offer of a free ride.
This is what happens when you have a Governor who treats his day job as an afterthought.
