Today’s stories
AUSTIN just wasted two years on a San Franciscan approach to dealing with homelessness, namely, ignoring it as the feces, stabbings, and syringes mounted in plain sight.
On Saturday, Austin voters (a majority with Democrat voting histories) chose to undo what the city council and Mayor Steve Adler enacted two years ago, allowing homeless encampments to flourish by abolishing a ban on camping in the city streets.
By the way, criminalizing homelessness (hyperbole, folks) isn’t what was or is proposed for the city following this weekend’s citizen lead rejection of the two-year too-long experiment.
There are folks with ideas and energy for addressing the issue, and the city council should seek them out.
LUBBOCK is the largest city yet to become a sanctuary city for the unborn.
NEVER TRUMPERS continued being losers over the weekend.
In a special election to replace the recently deceased Congressman Ron Wright, the virtue-signaling never Trumper Michael Wood came in 9th place. He was endorsed by Adam Kinzinger, one of a handful of disgraced Congressmen who voted to impeach President Trump based on the false assertion that he spurred a riot at the capital.
Also, over the weekend, the wife of former Senator John McCain, best known for playing possum to Obama in 2008 and using his funeral to spite a superior (Trump), is calling an audit of the Arizona election "ludicrous." Incorrect.
Finally, political has-been, Joe Straus wrote an op-ed claiming trans kids are unduly targeted by legislation this session. Straus worked to kill common-sense legislation ensuring men would use mens’ and not women's restrooms in 2017.
Joe Straus’ political positions are offensive to most Texas voters, and he’ll lose like McCain (John) and Michael Wood if he ever decides to run outside of this North San Antonio bubble.
