The TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL BOARDS is withdrawing from their national counterpart; finally.
The belated move comes after the national organization tried to induce the Biden administration to classify parents showing up at school board meetings as domestic terrorists.
On the one hand, this is good and should be celebrated. On the other hand, that this (completely obvious) decision took eight months is a revealing glimpse into the broken nature of Texas politics.
In an allegedly conservative state, why would this take so long?
As close observers of Texas understand, the educrat establishment has long controlled significant portions of the legislature. This influence is frequently hidden behind the “say something bombastic on Fox News and hope nobody asks follow-up questions” strategy. While this influence might be waning, it has proven mainly unshakeable.
Beyond structural factors in the legislature, it also speaks to the lack of leadership in the Governor’s office. If Greg Abbott considered this a priority, it could have happened months ago.
One exciting speculation is that TASB’s decision might have been made with the Texas GOP convention in mind.
The thinking goes that they didn’t want to add any reason for the convention to take a hard line against them. It’s an interesting hypothesis, though it’s unlikely the educrat lobby gives RPT delegates this much consideration.
In any case, TASB’s position had become politically untenable. That’s a good thing.

TRANSGENDER LUNACY, involving children, has gained new life thanks to a ruling by a Dallas county judge.
The case involved the so-called “GENETICS” program at Children’s Hospital of Dallas, which shut down last year.
This is all the more reason why Texas needs to ban the process.
