Today’s Stories
GREG ABBOTT’s lack of interest in his day job produces terrible headlines.
The embattled Governor’s latest embarrassment comes from attorneys, who are now offering pro-bono legal assistance to National Guard members caught in legal jeopardy over “use of force incidents” on the border.; it’s; it’s; it’s; it’s
Texas forces at Greg Abbott’s instruction appear to have been deployed without protocols in place, it’s astonishing.
Abbott’s political liability over Operation Lone Star is only beginning, and it’s not limited to the primary should he prevail. Unless the execution of OLS improves significantly, it will soon become a slow drip of bad daily headlines at a level unseen since Dubya invaded Iraq.
Meanwhile, Abbott belatedly joined every other Republican calling on the Criminal Court of Appeals to reverse itself on ruling disallowing the Attorney General from prosecuting voter fraud cases. Conveniently, he neglected to mention that the judge who wrote that ruling was his appointee.
In his announcement calling for the court to backtrack, Abbott inaccurately claimed that Texas passed the nation’s strongest election-integrity law.
Readers of this newsletter well know that SB1 was flawed and decriminalized voter fraud. Additionally, it’s highlighted that signatures on mail-in ballot applications aren’t being used to validate applications in recent weeks.
Thanks to Abbott's inattention to election reform, mail-in ballots will be used to goose Democrat performance in 2022.
Abbott is part of the speaking lineup this weekend at Trump’s rally in Conroe, Texas. His reception will speak volumes as to his political standing.
DON HUFFINES, meanwhile, was on Tucker Carlson last night.
The appearance followed an introductory segment where the host castigated the Biden administration for its lack of concern for the “territorial integrity” of the United States, in contrast with the President’s alleged concern for Ukraine.
Specifically, Huffines appearance was in the context of Fox News having collected footage of the federal government releasing a tranche of illegal aliens in Brownsville.
This is good. We need a lot more of it. With the primary barely a month away, the case against Abbott is obvious. The unknown is what percentage of the electorate understands that case, which is not good for the field of challengers.
Only time (an increasingly vanishing amount) will tell. (AC)
HENRY CUELLAR, Democrat congressman from South Texas, is vowing to continue his re-election campaign following last week’s FBI raid on his home.
To this point, Cuellar hasn’t been accused of anything beyond taking a Congressional junket. It’s would be a fool’s errand to defend the practice, but it's widespread in Congress. To raid a congressman’s home over it suggests an ulterior motive.
Following the raid, there was a rumor around Austin that the Biden administration was attempting to soften up Cuellar ahead of his March primary re-match w/ an-AOC aligned challenger.
Such rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, but it might be accurate for Cuellar to come out swinging in this manner.
The move is consistent with the Biden administration’s playbook against former New York governor Andrew Cuomo.
What’s more difficult to discern is the Biden administration’s endgame.
It’s not a secret that South Texas is one of the GOP’s top growth areas. If AOC-types start winning Democrat primaries in the region, this process will accelerate. The Biden administration has to know this.

ROGER CLEMENS, legendary Texas Longhorn and two-time world champion with the New York Yankees, has officially completed his term of eligibility for the Hall of Fame without being inducted.
American society, in 2022, has no problem giving tranny hormones to 8-year-olds…but Roger Clemens can’t get into the Hall of Fame because he did steroids. (AC)
