Today's stories
CONTACT TRACING, a big brother scheme to find, investigate, and monitor U.S. citizens exposed to the coronavirus, is garnering lots of attention.
Texans are wigging out about the erosion of privacy the practice ensures, while at the same time questioning Governor Abbott's awarding of a massive $300 million contract to a fledgling IT company.
In addition to hiring individuals to conduct interviews and investigate cases of coronavirus, contact tracing relies on phone tracking technology to ascertain if someone has come in contact with an infected individual.
More to come on this, I'm sure.
A BILL CLINTON judicial appointee handed Democrats a win yesterday, by once again temporarily opening up balloting by mail to all Texans.
The ruling will be immediately appealed to the 5th Circut Court of Appeals.
Yesterday's ruling follows closely on the heels of a Friday ruling from the Texas Supreme Court temporarily halting a similar willy nilly judicial expansion of mail-in balloting. Today the court will hear arguments in that case.
These are two separate cases, and there are others out there initiated by Democrats seeking to upend elections in Texas by expanding balloting by mail outside the scope of current law.
In other elections news, a Democrat party official has been appointed to take the place of departing Harris County Clerk Dianne Trautman. The office is partisan and will be filled by voters in November.
The county was reported to be considering the hire of an election administrator, a non-partisan employee of the county with a singular focus on running elections. Harris County is the largest county in the state.
CNN and the left are invested in an overblown COVID19 narrative in Texas and other GOP controlled states.
When it comes to reopening, there's not a massive gulf between Texas and New York or California at this point. Texas lags Florida by 25% for a couple of weeks, California paces Texas at the same rate and New York is right behind California.
The notion that we'll remain locked down for much longer or return to lockdown once out is fantasy.
A HOUSTON man and career criminal fatally stabbed a grandma, 80, in broad daylight after being released from jail.
