Today’s stories
DEMOCRATS yesterday continued weakening their already poor position after abandoning their families and duties two weeks ago.
In the morning, the group was accused of endangering their comrades in D.C. with COVID, including the Speaker of the House, after a Pelosi staffer tested positive for the bug.
The continued spread of COVID in the delegation is being used as a scapegoat to scuttle a potential meeting with Joe Biden, not that a face-to-face would help their cause.
Still, the crew has vowed not to return to Texas until after the end of this first special session. We’ll see.
Then, yesterday evening Vicki Goodwin took to Twitter to provide reasons for opposing election reforms. She made bad arguments for illegal drive-thru voting.
Just 127,000 Harris County voters stayed in their cars to cast votes in the 2020 election. Of those only, 53% were minority voters. The total number may seem significant, but it isn’t, and it’s inflated.
In total, 1,633,557 votes were cast in Harris County, so less than 8% were drive-thru. According to multiple reports, voters at the largest voting center in Houston were diverted from voting in-person to vote drive-thru, spiking an already paltry figure.
As for the racial component, Harris County is less than 30% white non-Hispanic, but this demographic accounted for nearly 50% of the drive-thru votes.
Meanwhile, at least one Democrat returned to Austin yesterday. Harrold Dutton was back on the House floor, returning to Texas to be with this sister undergoing chemotherapy. Prayers for her treatment and Godspeed in her recovery.
INCUMBENTS are being pushed to the right and defeated in some down-ballot races.
